Hey gang. Just wondering; do you know anything about laser hair removal over tattooed areas? I can’t seem to find anything about damage to the tattoo. Any info will be much appreciated. Thanks.

I have a friend who had tattoos removed by a laser intended for hair removing. It’s not ideal for the purpose, but it worked. Even if it were set up different there’s still a great chance for damage to the tattoo. There are options though, like using an epilator. It’s not as efficient as the newer laser technology but it should be totally safe for your tattoos.

if you got laser hair removal over a tattoo, could that tattoo be touched up or would it be so distorted that it can’t really be fixed

The kind of laser that was used on her worked by seeking out dark spots like the hairs. The person doing the laser accidentially ran it over part of the tattoo, and since the tattoo had a black outline it was zapped. It caused considerable damage to it. Fortunately it was crappy and she planned on covering it up anyway. So, yes. Laser can damage tattoos, I don’t know if there are different kinds of lasers they can use.
