Salt soak solution, it seems, is 1/8tsp salt:1c comfyhot water. That’s a lot of water for a tragus. So I’m wondering if it’s okay to mix the full batch of saltmix, save what I didn’t use, and reheat it for later use?

To simply answer your question: Just get Wound Wash Saline it can easily be purchased at pharmacy’s and most grocery stores, etc.

Or you can obtain a 1 gallon (4 liter) jug of Distilled Water and mix in roughly 3-4 teaspoons of Sea Salt and store it in your fridge to reduce bacterial growth. However you will not want to keep it for too long, usually after 7 days you will want to obtain another gallon jug, etc.

You can also obtain smaller jugs like a 2 liter jug and make smaller batches.

  1. I’ve heard measurements ranging from 1/4tsp to 1/8tsp of salt to 1 cup of water, depending on whether your salt is smaller granules or larger rock salt, etc etc. So you could go for 1/8tsp or less of salt in a 1/2 cup of water. Or make a cup, and just throw out the mixture you don’t use - half a cup isn’t that much anyway.

  2. the hard part in regards to self-measuring is the inability to measure by volume and to still ensure things are at the proper pH balance required for the body…Too much salt will pull the water from the cells and dry them out…Too much water then salt will over-flood the cells and cause them to burst.

Ultimately the BEST option if you can obtain it is proper sterile saline, often labeled as Wound Wash…Often it comes in jugs or a pressurized pump stream bottle…

That way by using this type of product line you do not have to worry about the concept of Human Error…Because without many tools and fun toys, you’ll almost always never get the proper volume mixture.

  3. “Wound Wash Saline”?? Is that like pre-made SSS? Also, does the water have to be distilled? I always did my soaks with tap water, I guess thats why they never worked properly!

  4. wound wash saline is a pre-made sterile saline solution sold in stores for a reasonable cost…It shoots out a stream of water, not mist, and is unable to be compromised just like H2Ocean cannot be compromised by simply using it.

Distilled Water is neutral pH balance…Whereas regular tap water is often treated before its made into drinkable/tap water…Depending on the source of water it is not suitable to use tap water, unless you boil it for quite a few minutes as quite often it can contain minerals and other materials that can irritate a piercing.
