dear BME folks, i have a chest piece and since i have it i shave it but before i got it i used hair removal cream like Nair and i wondered if using this type of cream over a tattoed area could affect the tattoo in any way. So should i avoid this type of product and if so what are the risks?
Thank you!
Good old Nair, great product, just don’t use it on certain area’s…YEEEOUCH!
Anyways in regards to your question, I myself am a rather hair man-beasty and have used nair often on my legs and chest(I have large tattoo pieces on my legs and chest),etc to make life easier in comparison to shaving, etc.
For me personally Nair has not visibly damaged my tattoos at all as Nair is not meant to travel that deep within the skin layers. Much like how the directions state, if you’re potentially worried about what it may do to your skin. The best thing to do is apply a small test amount somewhere on the body and see what it does.
So as per the directions I’d suggest attempting a small test application somewhere around your chest piece and follow the directions exactly as stated. As I know on my body if you leave Nair on longer than the directed time frame, it actually does a sort of chemical irritation to my skin.

I have had my ears pierced since forever. My right ear is pierced twice in my lobe & My left ear three times… i really want to stretch the second one in both ears… bad idea?? All of my holes are at 14ga .. but i’m weird and don’t want to stretch the bottom one.
There should be no problem stretching whichever holes in your ear you want. the only issue would be if the piercings are close together and the tissue between them becomes thin as you stretch them. Other than that, have fun with the stretching process. Remember to be smart about it and go slow.

Alright, so I got a standard nostril piercing this past saturday and have since developed an uber bad cold (I actually think I may die haha) and it’s extremely angry because of the excessive nose blowing.
What should I do to calm it down/make it better… I’ve been using sea salt spray often, but it’s really red. I’m not so sure it’s infected though.
While an infection isn’t impossible, it’s likely not the problem in this case.
As you mentioned, the pressure/irritation from blowing your nose a lot probably has the piercing seriously unhappy. Nose piercings can be a little delicate in general when they are healing, let alone when they are merely days old.
The best option is to simply be as careful as you can when blowing your nose. You obviously have to put pressure on it, but try to do it as gently as possible. Other than that, I would consider doing more a salt soak/compress than a spray. Mix a solution of salt water and then either submerge your nose in it, or saturate a gauze pad or paper towel and use that like a compress.
Get well soon!

hello
im from iowa city, iowa and im planing on getting my tongue split in a medical Environment. how do i find some one suited for this task?
Hi,
I to am someone who is very interested in obtaining a tongue split, but like you I’d like to go the medical environment avenue. The hard part is based on various rules and regulations the medical world is bound by in the USA, not to mention the medical practitioners personal beliefs (ie: even though you want a procedure and are sane, a doctor can try to veto it with their own ethical/moral/personal beliefs reasons).
I am unsure of Iowa’s laws however I do know various states in the US have laws in place that prohibit the procedure of a Tongue Split being performed by anyone that isn’t a medical practitioner. In my eyes this gives individuals who desire a tongue split, a loop hole they can actually cite. Because if the state is declaring the procedure has to be done by a medical practitioner, that means there is no reason for them to refuse the procedure.
As a plastic surgeon in the movie Modify said, just flipped a bit to make a point: “By telling me what I(average every day person) can’t do. You are essentially telling me (the plastic surgeons) what I CAN do.”
So first and foremost I’d suggest get yourself educated on the Iowa state laws regarding Tongue Splits, if they have any. From there locate a reputable plastic/re-constructive surgeon and have a consultation with them. Make sure you have any and all of the information you researched on you so you can cite it, etc (ie: if there IS a law prohibiting tongue split procedures by non-medical practitioners). Because by educating yourself on this matter and really looking into it, will eliminate the “they’re nuts!” attitude they might usually brandish someone with. However certain medical practitioners will always have that view potentially, based on their own personal beliefs.
Another avenue to potentially look into is Oral Surgeons as well, as they are also another option to sit down and discuss the matter with…I just originally stated Plastic Surgeons because I know of non-American ones that are willing to perform the procedure if someone wants their tongue split.
But as I said, in states that have specific tongue split laws, there can be loop holes around the legal system that will enable to medical practitioner to perform the procedure. Which I personally feel SHOULD be a procedure available via plastic surgeons, etc. Because with the amount of implants, lifts, removals, etc they do on a daily basis, I personally think a tongue split would be a much more simple and easy procedure for them.
You might be met with some resistance in regards to the medical practitioner front, so be prepared for that. But if you don’t educate yourself on the laws and search out a medical practitioner, you simply will never know unless you try…right?

Hi!
About a month ago I got my inner conch punched at a 4g and immediately stretched to a 2. I’d like to be able to take out the jewelry, but I’m scared the hole will start to close. How do I make sure the hole doesn’t close on me overnight?
Dermal punches take quite awhile to fully heal and settle enough to hold their size and shape without the need for jewelry. This is not always the case, as every person can heal differently. In any case it is very unlikely that your punch will hold its size at one month.
If you keep your jewelry in place for a year or more, there will be a much greater chance that it will hold it’s size and shape without the need for jewelry. When you feel that it’s fully healed and settled, you can try taking it out for short periods of time to see if it tightens up much. This way if it closes beyond your desired size you can quickly change your mind and replace your jewelry.

I have recently stretched by APA from 12 GA to 6GA.
Now I am having lots of trouble to Pee. I am constantly wetting my pants and the urine flow has been much more slow than it used to be when I was pierced at 12 GA.
Other thing: my piercing has been smelling very bad.
Is this normal? What are can can I do for the smell and to pee standing? Will I have to sit every time I would urinate?
When a large piece of jewelry runs trans-urethrally through the glans of the penis, it can become an obstruction to the natural passage of urine and ejaculate. This explains the slowing down of urine flow. You may find with time that the urethra will stretch to accommodate the flow of bodily fluids around your piercing. To combat blockage you can have a piece of jewelry custom-made that has passages drilled through the post to allow smoother flow of bodily fluids through the urethra.
In time you will likely find that the entrance and exit holes of your piercing will leak when you urinate and/or ejaculate. This is a natural occurence with trans-urethral piercings as they fully heal and loosen up. This is generally where difficulty in urinating standing up comes into play. It can be difficult to aim three streams at a toilet, so when encountering a toilet it is usually easiest to just sit down to pee.
It may be tricky to aim 2 or 3 streams of urine at one small target, but it can be done with practice. Practice outside by carefully twisting your penis in different directions or even upside down and adjusting your aim. You should eventually find a semi-comfortable position in which you can mange all of the streams. Once you become comfortable with this, using a wall urinal and peeing outside should be much easier. If you master the technique and shake extremely well, you should not have an issue with leaking after you’re done.
As for having an unpleasant odour, it’s highly recommended that you clean your piercing daily. Especially given the location and size of this specific piercing. The shower or bath is a great place to do this. Remove your jewelry, thoroughly clean your glans and jewelry separately, then the odour issue should disappear. If your piercing is irritated or sore, gently but thoroughly clean it without removing the jewelry.

When is the best time of the month to get this done? Will having your period affect it in any way?
It would be the more hygienic and practical choice to have a VCH piercing done shortly after your period has finished for the month. This will allow your body some time to heal without any excess discharge getting in the way and contaminating your fresh piercing. If your period kicks in during the initial healing, it is advisable to use tampons as opposed to pads and shower frequently (twice a day should suffice).
Stick to your proper piercing aftercare regime in accordance with these tips and you shouldn’t have any ambiguous complications due to your period.

hello (again)
i have acne on my back is that a problem for a 4 point back suspension??
Acne spots should be quite superficial compared to the damage caused by the piercings. However, it is possible to experience some minor acne-related discomfort beyond the piercings if your acne is severe. This may affect the piercing procedure, but less likely the suspension itself.
Once heavy tension is applied to the piercings it is likely that the acne will barely (if at all) be noticeable to you. Having the ability and strength to let go and fully suspend comes largely from your mental state, which should overpower superficial acne wounds.

I have my navel pierced since february last year, it’s still not healed, there is no sign of infection, no redness or anything else, but there is a small amount of withish liquid that comes out of it, I do think it’s lymph but I’m not sure, it does smell bad, I put vitamin E on it and it looked fine but juste for a couple of hours (maybe 6) I put H2Ocean on it two or three times a day since maybe a month. Finally my question is do you think it might me some kind of infection? and should if so do you have any treatment plus, if it’s not an infection should I take it out, let it heal and re-pierce it at another time?
sorry if there is any mistake my writting in english is not that good.
Whitish fluid is most definitely skin cells, body oils, etc what is most commonly referred to as “lymph”…It is often common especially with lower quality materials…Do you happen to know anything about the jewelry you have currently? What metal type is it? Is it Externally Threaded (Ball screws onto post) or Internally Threaded (ball screws into the post)?
Without seeing it in person I can only assume its just lymph and nothing to be concerned about. If anything however instead of just spraying it with a saline solution you should actually soak it to flush the pathway out.
But I will definitely say I doubt there is any infection present or anything like that. As with infection there is usually inflammation (redness, swelling, etc)

Hi, I’ve had a 0-gauge stretched septum for perhaps half a year now, which I stretched over the course of about 2 years with little complication. However, I recently stretched up to a 00-ga, and though the stretch itself hurt less than many of the previous ones, my nose has been swollen for a few days and bled a lot when I cleaned it (the most my nose has acted up after a stretch is to be a little sore for maybe a couple hours, and has certainly never bled).
I’m worried that I might have torn the fistula, or worse, blown out my septum (I’m not even sure if that’s possible), but even with the aid of a flashlight I’m not sure what to look for. I also live in a small town where the resident piercing shops are rather shady, and it’ll be a couple weeks before I have the means to go to Toronto to visit my regular piercer. Is there any real way of telling if I’ve damaged my septum…or if it’s just because the 0 to 00-gauge jump is a bit bigger?
It could honestly be a few things to sort out. What I would honestly do is downsize back to the 0ga and do sterile saline solution soaks as if it was a fresh piercing. Then as soon as you make it to Toronto have your piercer look at it. (off-topic who is your regular piercer in Toronto and where are you currently?)
Also know that sometimes in certain sizes and in certain locations 6 months is still too soon to stretch and the body might require longer time. It’s weird that you did not feel any discomfort, etc yet you did the kind of damage that results in swelling and bleeding.
Definitely an interesting situation that I’d do as I said above, downsize to 0ga and mention it to your piercer.
