Giday guys.

I was wondering how many countries have National Piercing Day and if you know which countries ?

Uhhhhh….pretty sure National Piercing Day is totally made up.

I don’t think there are any countries that “have” it, as it’s not a recognized holiday.. So, no countries have it. Yet, all countries have it…if someone there decides to “celebrate” it.

And if it isn’t totally made up, I think all piercer should get that day off. :)

  1. I looked on the internet and found it’s May 16th so it’s actually almost here :) I don’t think it has a story behind it though (like International Women’s Day does, for example), we could just as well declare any other day “National Piercing Day”.

  2. Being on the internet (and yahoo! wow!) doesn’t make it real. It’s still a made-up, unofficial holiday. About the equivalent of talk like a pirate day.

  3. I’ve seen stuff on the internet before about ‘national piercing day’ and just guessed it was either American (I’m from godd ol’England) or made up, but i generally get a piering on this day ‘cos it’s my birthday, so to me it is piercing day :)

    Lol, irrelevant but true!

  4. Well, if we look at it that way, every holiday is “made-up” and there are things on the internet that are being celebrated by a lot of people (Pi Day, International Hug A Vegetarian Day, etc) but yeah, “Piercing Day” is nothing serious imo :)

  6. Woo. :D I just discovered that “National Piercing Day” is, in fact, on my birthday. That explains a lot.

  7. So I did some research on the topic. It looks like it was started in 2007 by someone named Dave from GoofyAuctions.com - Not much else seems to be known but hey it’s definitely a great idea for us piercers to promote and get extra (and much needed) business! -Natalie

  8. National Piercing Day on May 16?! That’s pretty sweet. I love piercings. And to top it off, it’s on my birthday! Thats awesome. I never knew about it until i was goofing off on the net and stumbled across it. I think it’s an amazing idea.

  9. National Piercing Day is actually a day. Most piercing places notice it and give discounts. Its on May 16th.

  10. I believe it is a holiday, but not an established one. Like children don’t get the day off from school and adults don’t get the day off from work, but people do celebrate it and yeah, places gives discounts on piercings. It’s just not a day that everyone celebrates and knows of. haha So it is a day!!!! Just not a widely known one?

  11. I’ve read on the internet that it’s may 16th. i’m getting my lip on the 16th just so i can say i celebrated it, lol. but it’s not a “real” holiday. and besides, if you want a piercing, why wait for a certain day? get it whenever you want to :)
