Lobe stretching

I had my lobes stretched from 2ga to 0ga two days ago, professionally. The stretch went well, one hurt a little, the other was painless. They’ve been a little tender but not anything out of the ordinary.
I did a soak today and when I cleaned around the jewelry there was a little blood on both. I’m guessing this means I managed to tear them regardless of the easy stretch. Should I be worried? No signs of a blowout, and I don’t plan to stretch any further…
Can I leave the 0ga in and just treat them real nice?
Thanks!
Definitely sounds like one had a bit more of micro-tearing then the other one, since stretching should not hurt at all if you’re waiting the appropriate amount of time and using the right size jewelry, etc.
And I would agree with you to simply just treat them as if they were freshly pierced (sterile saline soaks once or twice a day, etc) since you do not plan to stretch any further. Treat them real nice and baby them and don’t think about stretching for quite awhile.

I would have to disagree with this - any time there is blood it has definitely gone well beyond the normal micro-tearing in your average stretch. Continuing to leave in the same size jewelry is only going to promote buildup of scar tissue. With any actual tearing (i.e. any time there is blood, as your piercing should NEVER bleed) I would recommend downsizing at least one, if not two sizes, then proceed to baby them. I wouldn’t actively stretch them again for about 6 months.
dirtyhartland on May 16th, 2008 at 1:35 pmdirtyhartland: perhaps you should read a bit more closely.
1) The individual in question said: “Little Blood” to which we do not know to what extent the bleeding was…Was it crusty blood gathering, was it literally pouring down their face
2) I said “a bit more of micro-tearing”….So what’s “a bit more of micro-tearing” mean? well obviously it could quite possibly mean flat out tearing, but again without seeing the individual in questions ear lobes we cannot make any sound judgments.
Also downsizing or not downsizing the scar tissue build up WILL be there, regardless, thats the joy of it when you tear your lobes when stretching…Also the individual in question said they have no intentions on stretching again, so in the grand scheme of things in will not matter in regards to the whole waiting six months, blah blah blah.
But just to add to your six month ruling, it should also have an extension period of up to a year or longer (ie: 6 months to a year or longer) before stretching to another size if tearing has occurred.
Warren Hiller on May 16th, 2008 at 8:53 pmI would also have to disagree. If there was blood, regardless of how much, the indivudual should downsize and massage their ears, SSS soaks, etc. to minimize or get rid of all the scar tissue and then wait the 6 months - a year and try the stretch again. Like you yourself said, there should be no pain while stretching your ears, meaning that the stretch was unsuccessful.
MadFad on May 17th, 2008 at 1:34 amso many people think that discharge that is anything but clear means blood. I read “a little blood” to mean that there was crust that was possibly colored orange. I get that from time to time in a 5 year old rook piercing. While I personally would advise downsizing and restretching via 1 gauge, I think Warren’s advice was awesome.
