i am ninteen years old, and i am already planning my future body mods. i have my heart set on getting a set of horn implants for my twenty-first birthday, but i have no clue how to go about finding someone to preform this. as with all my body mods, i like to research them to the fullest extent, and i want to make sure that the person in charge of the procedure has the proper amounts of experience and knowhow. there are rumors of shops that will preform such procedures around where i live, but i don’t fully trust them. although i live in Pennsylvania, i am willing to travel as far as necessary to get my horns done properly. any suggestions?

thanks!

Hey fella-
I really admire your patience and desire to get the best, safest mod you can. We need more like you!
Anyhoo; while I consider it bad form to directly recommend someone on such a public forum, I’d advise you to surf around BME. When you see a nice set’a horns… check out who did them! Consider getting a membership to BME’s community site, IAM.BMEZINE.COM. There are a handful of artists who maintain pages there that could help you with your research. Finally, you can contact me privately and I could throw some advice your way.

Good luck!

One Response to “birthday horns”

  1. IAM members who have horns and BMEzine experiences could help point you in the direction of an artist. It shouldn’t take long to find artists via IAM/BME. When you do find them, be clear and concise as these individuals are in very high demand Anyone who has worked directly under Steve Haworth, Brian Decker, Lukas Zpira, or Howie and has implanted at least ten implants perfectly in my opinion would be qualified to implant me.

You probably should have some extreme mod experience prior to your implant procedure to show that you can handle difficult to heal mods and the social issues that go along with being different. What you want is a very risky mod.

You need to know the technologies (e.g. transdermals, subdermals, microdermals, and dermal anchors) like an expert and their advantages/disadvantages/risks by heart.

I ran into a communications problem with many shops… Most assumed I wanted microdermals when I clearly asked for transdermals. Also, make your timeframe clear to your artist. I chose transdermals because they are easier to get the visible effect I want. You might like the look of subdermals and could deal with being cut open multiple times to replace your implants with larger implants.

I’m considering two artists for my transdermal horns after contacting about a dozen artists (most of which said they couldn’t even perform the procedure). One of them is so well known on IAM that you’ll be able to find him in no problem (but expect him to take up to a week to answer your email because he is demand). The other I met at after an alternative lifestyles convention afterparty in the VIP room. For me, it’s a choice between going to the best of the best (but traveling a day each way) versus going to someone local who has implanted enough times and hangs out with and studies with the best of the best.
