Which, if any, female genital piercings would be suitable for me as a horse-rider? I’m considering getting a Christina (if it’s a viable option), but would like to know if I could consider any other piercings too. Also, would the piercing require any special care because of my riding?
If you are an avid/consistent horse rider, you may want to consider something that heals fairly quickly (2-6 weeks typically)…such as a vertical/horizontal hood or inner labia piercings. Piercings such as outer labia and Christinas tend to have a longer healing time (3-4 months). If the healing time is short, if you find the piercing does interfere with your riding, or perhaps the other way around, it shouldn’t be an issue for very long.
It’s possible that a Christina might not be affected by riding too much, given it’s more “upward” placement. Having never ridden a horse, I don’t have personal experience to draw from…not to mention the lack of the other vital parts in question.
Obviously, your particular “build” is going to play a part as well.
You aren’t going to know how things are going to work out until you actually try it, unfortunately. If you find that there is an issue, at that point you can try different things (such as use of padding, adjusting riding position etc) to alleviate the issue you are having.
Best of luck.

I have a VCH and have ridden with no issues (i’m a casual intermediate rider, and i’ve ridden in english, western and dressage saddles; trail ridden and jumped with jewelry in). I have known riders with labia piercings as well. based on my experience, i would guess that a christina would not be an issue–that area doesn’t generally contact a saddle. a triangle might be an issue, and i suspect that certain placements of labial piercings would be problematic.
AeChei on July 21st, 2008 at 8:10 pmA christina -shouldn’t- pose many problems with horse riding. You might want to take a break for a bit while you’re healing, but the way a christina is situated shouldn’t cause any dramas.
I second AeChei that some labial placements could be problematic, due to how you sit in a saddle. Different forms of riding also would impact this. For example, if you ride western you wouldn’t be rising to the trot like an English rider would, but sitting to the trot, in which you’d be moving your pelvis against the saddle. This movement would bloody suck for labial piercings, in all honesty, depending on placement, of course.
Dimruthien on July 22nd, 2008 at 1:04 amI agree with what the others have said. I’ve had my VCH for years now and never had a problem. I suppose it will be dependant on your anatomy and how sensitive that area is, but for me I was only for a few days after piercing and could ride in about a week, with only mild discomfort at first. Now though, I usually don’t feel it whatsoever–but every once in a while, there is a really delightful twinge that feels AWESOME!

I’m gonna go saddle up my horse and work out what is sitting where
Jackalhead on July 23rd, 2008 at 9:49 amHa, I was wondering how genital piercings would be for cyclists, so this is sort of helpful too.
