hello.

im 14 and have my nose, belly, tragus and a few piercings in my ears. i was just wondering which of these would feel somethng like a lip if any?

im getting it done in december and would just like to be prepared.

Put simply.. none. They are not lips. This is a question that nobody can really give you an accurate answer to as even someone with the same piercing may not experience what others do. Pain, discomfort, sensation etc are subjective and highly personal and many other factors feature highly in nociception (the experience of pain) such as headspace, menstrual cycles, lifestyle, state of health etc etc. The thing to remember is that piercing discomfort is wholly dealable otherwise nobody would ever have more than one piercing. It’s more the fear of not knowing what to expect that you have to suck up and push through.

  1. I have and have had various ear piercings (lobes [stretched], tragi, rook, and industrial), septum, nipples, VCH, and a sternum piercing and they were all completely different. I would put the VCH closest because apparently my lip has a whole lot of nerves.

  2. whereas I for one (who has had several lip piercings and genital piercings) would disagree - hence what I say about pain being subjective.

  3. funny thing about the body…Is that its COVERED in nerves. This is how we are capable of “feeling” when we are touched. These nerve senors trigger the brain to tell you how you should react. Hence why you can feel someone touch you and it feels alright, yet if you stick your body in a fire, ouch its hot.

  4. Warren - Kim said her lip has “a lot” of nerves which is hardly a stupid or redundant thing to say since the density and types of sensory nerve endings varies over different parts of the body, and probably between different individuals as well. What’s the sarcasm for?

  5. Personally. I think if any of them a lip ring feels more like an earpiercing. When I got my belly button pierced it tickled really bad. I didn’t feel my tongue piercing and on my ears and lip it was like a very small pinch. It doesn’t hurt. Don’t worry.
