im getting mine done on saturday

and need to hide it from parents.

what should i get it done with a horseshoe one

or the retainer? and whats the difference?

and what colour? silver or black?

what hides the best in other words!

and will it hurt?

Yes it will hurt. Probably not as much as you think. Pain is strictly personal. Some people say that they didn’t even feel their septum piercing, some people say it hurt so badly they’d never do it again. *shrug* No way to know how yours will go until you have it done!

Circular barbells (or “horseshoes”) can be flipped up into the nostrils to hide the piercing. Depending on the anatomy of your nose, that might be suffice.
Some retainers are staple shaped or crescent shaped.

Some people’s jewelry can’t be seen with implant grade steel or high polish titanium, but as an extra precaution against visibility, you could also have a black annodized niobium retainer put in initially.

  1. Six years ago I had my septum pierced at 12 gauge and honestly, it didn’t hurt any more than getting a shot at the doctors office. My jewelry was a 12 gauge “staple” shaped retainer in black anodized niobium. It was perfect! No one ever noticed it unless I wore it flipped down. BTW, I have now stretched it up to a 0 guage and wear a clear plug in it which also almost no one has ever noticed.

  2. Pierce with a retainer, the balls on a circular “horsehoe” barbell are too uncomfortable if you’re keeping it flipped up all the time. The catch with black niobium is that it’s heavier than steel or titanium and so may be more inclined to fall out if it sits loose.

It’ll feel like someone’s just hacked off nose with a butter knife, but don’t stress, after a few weeks it will subside to about the pain level of a short needle prick not unlike any other piercing.

  3. I had mine done with the small staple shaped retainer and it hid it fine, even though I didn’t want or need to! It was what my piercer suggested as the best initially. Also, the pain was a lot less than most of my ear piercings! It just pinched and made my eyes water :) I quite enjoyed it actually.

  6. to hide it from your parents go for retainer

silver or black dousnt matter unless they are gunna be stairing up your nose

im 14 and i got mine done without my parents permission to and the retainer worked fine and they still dont know 2 months on

if your worried when your there talk to the person piercing you and they will distract you and the needle will go straight through.all it feels like is a pinch if they get your “sweet spot”

it makes your eyes water though.
