Alright so right now I’m stretched to 3/4′ and I have wrapped tape around my plugs. I didn’t wrap much, just twice around, they were kinda tight going in and now one of my ears are super sore and the other is fine, just wondering if this is normal or a bad thing?

And if there is anything I can do to help, because this is very uncomfortable and I know if I take it out now it’s gonna be super super sore.

“Super Sore” is not a good way to describe earlobes!
Even a couple wraps can be too much for some lobes. Your best bet would be to downsize the jewelry to the size you were last - or maybe even the size under that until you feel less pressure on the lobe.
Treat it like a new piercing - wash it with warm water twice a day, don’t touch it, etc and give it lots of time before you attempt to wrap it again.

  1. What exactly did you wrap your plugs with?

  3. Thanks!
I think I’m going to give them a couple more days to heal, because this morning they’re feeling a bit better, they’re just really red. Do you think this could be because of the tape I used? I used clear medical tape, I didn’t think this would be a problem but I figured it could be. And is there anything I can rub on my ears that’ll make them more “stretchy”?

  4. Medical tape tends to be quite porous, that could be your issue right there. I once used bone jewelry in a freshly stretched hole… that was a disaster.

I think teflon tape from the hardware store is a better bet. The stuff to line threads in plumbing to keep it from sticking.

As for oils, I personally use tea tree oil because I LOVE the way it smells, but it’s problematic for some people. Vitamin E oil, olive oil, emu oil are all other options.

  5. The redness is probably due to increased blood flow due to not wearing jewelry.

  6. Hey everyone thanks for all your advice, well my ears definately aren’t as sore anymore but are still red and still have nastiness coming out of them, I’ve been cleaning them well and trying not to touch them at all.

I let them soak for about an hour in the shower everynight and I’m definately using different tape for my next stretch.

    Anymore advice / wisdom?

  7. Let them sit until all the pain is gone and then fit in the largest comfortable jewelry you can, something solid and heavy: Solid SSS plugs or glass, this will start the stretching process naturally until you can either fit in the next size or feel that you are comfortable enough to either start taping or taper them to the next size.

  8. Sounds good, I’m putting in 7/8″ in next, so I don’t have far to go before I can put those in. My ears aren’t as sore anymore and swelling has went down, still kinda oozing nasty stuff but I just keep them clean and leave them alone, So I’d say in a week or so I’ll be taping them again or trying t oget my 7/8″ in.

  9. You’re not getting the point. You need to sit at the current size until they’re more comfortable, Trying to stretch again will agrivate the piercing doing more damage than good.

  10. Right on, lol I really hadn’t got the point. Now that I do I’m gonna let these bad boys sit in here until they’re all good and healed :]
