Transdermal/microdermal removal

I’m planning for a corset piercing down my back with microdermal anchors. I understand that microdermals are pretty much permanent and require surgical removal. While I don’t plan on having my microdermals removed, I was just wondering, when people do have them removed, is the procedure as ‘bloody’ as transdermal implant removal?

From my research, I understand that microdermals were created as the ‘less-permanent’ form of transdermals, and I know both have to be surgically removed. Just wondering if there’s any differences between the removal procedures?

The difference in procedures for removal of the two are huge and not even comparable, really. Surface Anchors do not need to be surgically removed. They don’t slide out like a regular piercing might, but they’re tiny and they come out with minimal difficulty.
For that reason, the removal of them isn’t going to be nearly as bloody or invasive as a transdermal removal.

  1. I just had a surface anchor removed… it was not healing flush with the skin and got caught on things all the time.

My piercer made a tiny incision with a scalpel and had to make one other cut on some tissue that had grown into the anchor. It was less painful and less bleeding than when I was pierced.

Also, the scar is very small and easily covered with some concealer. I expect to keep getting less noticable too.

  2. You may be left with small dermal punch scars (14g usually), but as Lexci says MD vs TD removal is much less invasive and permanent. I removed my own (single) rejecting MD in a bathroom at my lab… even after half an hour of scalpeling it out the “long” way through swollen tissue it’s healed to a barely visible circular punch scar.

If you’re considering a corset, you should probably consider placement such that any scars will be as aesthetically located as possible, should the worst happen…

  3. Thanks. guys. I’m having my corset put in over a few months, 2 MA’s at a time. It will eventually be 10 MA’s.
