I just got my VCH pierced yesterday and the piercer used a 16g curved barbell….i wanted to know if this was a standard starting size for this type of piercing or if he used too small of a gauge? All my piercing are 14g+ so if it is an ok gauge to use how hard is it to gauge up to a 14g after the initial healing time?

16g is way too thin for genital piercings. Think ‘cheesewire’!
Give it a month and in that time be very careful with it and then pop a 14g piece of jewellery in there.

The term is to stretch up, not gauge up!

  1. VCH tend to stretch on their own so I’m sure putting a 14g in after a month will be a piece of cake. I wear a 12. And a 16g is ouchfully thin. I don’t know what your piercer was thinking. Genital piercings take a lot of wear and tear (um, I mean from your clothing) and you really need a larger gauge.
Just the word “cheesewire” hurts my girl parts =(

  2. And if you have trouble putting the 14g in there, take a nice hot shower and get the girly parts all wet and stuff, then tug gently downward on the piercing. Right after you get out of the shower then put in the new jewelry. :) You’ll be good to go!
    I’m at 8g right now, all self-stretching.
