Which ring is better for my teeth… I am getting it on the lower lip off to the side.

Thanks again

Initial lip piercings will heal better with appropriately fitted flatback labret barbells because they won’t be whacked around so much like a CBR would be.

As far as your teeth go, it’s a very real risk that any lip piercing can cause significant damage to oral tissue. You can greatly reduce/avoid enamel and tissue erosion by wearing snug fitting jewelry.
I tell my clients to come back for their first downsize after piercing within two weeks. This helps to collect that bit of extra length that will be risked snagging on teeth and wearing at gum tissue.
Second downsize after a month or two once it’s completely healed up.

I personally don’t think that CBRs are great for new lip piercings at all. Heal it with a flatback and switch it later once it’s healed up.

  1. I absolutely agree! I am still healing my third attempt at a lip piercing, and this time I have a CBR in it. The first two times were waaaaaay easier to heal, as they had labret studs and didn’t move/get caught/bumped around as much. I insisted on a CBR because a previous labret had damaged my gums, but I wish I had gone with a labret initially and switched to the CBR after 2 weeks.

  2. For that matter, it’s also a good reminder that you will probably want to downsize the jewelry after the initial swelling goes down, regardless of whether you end out with a stud or ring. If the jewelry doesn’t fit snugly, the chance of oral damage is significantly greater.

  3. And now that I reread, 90% of my comment was already answered by Lexci, of course… I will now cease posting bleary eyed at 6am…. umm… after this.

My small point was that since so many people forget/neglect to downsize their labret jewelry, having an extra reason to be refitted can’t hurt.
