Quick question about stretched earlobes:
Does the hole continue to get larger and larger with time? (yknow, due to gravity and age and all). If this is true, how long would you suggest til one start considering gradually wearing bigger jewelry? Is this common?
I stretched my ears probably about 1 or 2 years ago to about a 9/16″, and have been wearing quartz/natural stone plugs since. They seem to be getting loose, and sometimes they slide out while I’m just here infront of the computer.
What you’re describing is the actual correct way to stretch your earlobes. Slowly, gradually and with no force.
The tissue WILL relax over time and allow for the next size jewelry to slip in with no trauma. This is the reason some people choose to use PTFE tape to help bridge the gap between sizes!

Thank you for answering my question! I had no idea this is how it worked! :S I thought once you stretched them to a certain size, they stayed that size, at least for a long time until old age when your skin loses elasticity. The more you know…
Mary on November 11th, 2008 at 11:49 amI stretched my left lobe up to 1 1/2″ and then took it out and let it shrink back down. Its been to years and I got to a 5/8″. But when I wear jewerly slowly after a while it just begins to stretch again , the elasticity of my ear is insane.
Allen on November 11th, 2008 at 11:03 pmif you want to NOT stretch bigger, leaving your jewelry out at night will help keep your holes tight.
(lol)
AeChei on November 12th, 2008 at 6:43 pmYeah I was thinking of doing what aechei said, when they start getting too loose, just not wear them for a while, on and off. I really like the size I am at!
