Hey askBME,

I recently found some awesome labret studs made of bioplast. My question is: Would it be okay to use bioplast for a new piercing or should is stick with titanium?

Thanks,

Isaac

I am not a fan of bioplast (or any other plastic jewellery) in any way other than use as a very temporary retainer (during surgery, for instance). Stick with high-quality implant grade steel or titanium; your piercings will heal faster and with fewer problems!

  1. Dear Isaac,

Search AskBME for previous entries about BioPlast. I can’t even count how many times I’ve answered that question lol
