Is it ok to start gauging a brand new piercing?

So I have had my left ear pierced for at least 3 years, and I never wore an earring. I started gauging it a couple of months ago, and it’s at a 4g now. I am pleased with it, but I want to pierce my right and do the same, to make it match. I don’t want to “wait 6 weeks”, so is it okay to start right after a week or so, or should I wait the whole 6 weeks?
I am trying to be polite here, but questions like this make me want to pull what little hair I have out.
You should wait at least four MONTHS before you start to stretch a fresh earlobe piercing. So, you have stretched from a standard ear piercing to 4g in only eight weeks? My friend, you have the world wide web at your disposal. if you do a little research you will see that you are going about it the right way to do damage to yourself. I suggest you dedicate an evening to using the search function on your browser and see what gems it throws up. As you aren’t even prepared to take your piercers advice regarding a six week wait, which in my opinion is far too soon anyway, I deeply doubt you will take my advice of waiting four months. Please, prove me wrong. If you want instant gratification, then get pierced at a larger gauge to start with but please, heed my advice with regards to healing time and stretching.

Why not get it pierced at an 8g and then wait for it to fully heal? Piercing at larger gauges takes alot of the streching wait away, but it also takes a little longer to heal.
Jay on December 9th, 2008 at 4:52 pmI was also wondering why you don’t just get pierced at a bigger gauge.
I can’t even imagine stretching a piercing that is 6 weeks old, let alone one week old, unless you like pain… a lot.
Kim on December 9th, 2008 at 8:12 pmNot to be offensive, but… I really have to wonder what the question-er really expected to hear.
“I only tell people to wait 6 weeks between stretches to slow them down so that I can stretch faster! Nobody will stretch as fast as me! I shall be the Stretched Piercing Queen!”
Coffee on December 10th, 2008 at 1:52 amI know we tell people to wait the 4 month period inbetween streches. I think a lot of piercers have become disconnected from the average everyday piercee/stretchee, and when jo blow gets away with no blowouts stretching at ridiculously fast rates, the common person thinks well maybe theres a medium pace. Not a fast joe blow, not a meticulous 4 month wait piercer. In my opinion there is a happy medium, and i have had no problem with 2 month intervals.
Kash on December 10th, 2008 at 3:57 amI just don’t understand why people think that the same information they get time and time again will suddenly change just because they don’t feel like waiting. The whole reason this website is here is to inform you, not be your mother. If all the people on the QoD staff say it’s important to wait, maybe that means there’s some validity to the statement.

Malikot on December 11th, 2008 at 12:25 pmwell, i dont actually think it matters how long you wait to stretch. i mean, i had my ears pierced about three months ago, and im already at 10mm. i honestly dont think there is a set amount of time you must abide to. just do woteva is comfortable. but definatly make sure you keep them clean!

Coffee on December 20th, 2008 at 7:29 pmif you like a bigger hole you can go to a professional piercer and ask for a dermal punch, but this will be not-return election
