My ears have been at a 2g for about two months now and today when i tried to stretch to a 0g my ears started to bleed. I went back down to a 2 but i wanted to know if you guys have any advice on what i can do to get my ears ready to go to a zero. I also tried taping but after the first piece of tape i waited a while and the second piece of tape wouldn’t fit.
The simple answer is to give it more time. Patience is the key. You may find that visiting a piercer and having them use a lubed-up taper helps but certainly give it more time. Time is the best advice I can give you.

You could also find a 1 gauge plug or eyelet. There are a few online stores that sell one gauge. 2 to 0 is a big step, I think. so if you feel the need to stretch there’s a viable option.
katy prost on December 11th, 2008 at 11:34 pmWhat are you using to stretch? When you get to that size, in my experience, you will need a taper. Just trying to put in a bigger plug doesn’t seem to work like it will for smaller sizes. I think if you are apprehensive or afraid of inflicting pain on yourself, get a professional piercer to have a look and taper it up to an in between size for you, then up to the next at a later stage.
Almaxaquotal on December 12th, 2008 at 10:34 ami would deffinatey say give it more time anyhow - i had to wait six months just to get my ears from 2mm to 3mm with relitave ease!
Deadly Poison on December 14th, 2008 at 8:46 amstreching your own ears isn’t that bad when done properly. I couldn’t find any shops near me that would strech bigger then 0g so I really had to take matters in my own hands. After doing plenty of reserch, I went out and bought tapers and did the streches somewhat slowly and listened to my body. It actually took 2 or 3 attempts to strech it to 5/8ths, which was my target goal. But this only happened because I was extra caucious and if it didn’t move for more then a minute of pushing, it was time to stop. Eventually I was able to slide the 5/8ths taper right through with no problem.
Jay on December 14th, 2008 at 3:06 pmI’d suggest continuing with the taping method. One wrap every few days. Your ears may just need longer than “recommended” to adjust, so if it’s hard to get the next wrap in, just WAIT.

When I’d have problems getting up to the next size I’d wait another week before trying again. During that week, I’d play with my jewelry a lot and it would do some stretching for me.
