I was considering getting a triangle piercing sometime in the near future, but have since discovered that there is a difference between a deep hood piercing and the triangle.
My piercer has determined that I am able to get a triangle piercing, but I didn’t ask about a deep hood because I wasn’t aware of a placement difference. Are people who are eligible for triangles usually also eligible for deep hood piercings? How are the types of stimulation they offer different, and which do you think would offer the most stimulation from behind the shaft as well as with potential for stimulation from the front (or would I be better off also getting a VCH?)?
In terms of piercing technique, is this better done with or without forceps, as long as the piercer can get a good grip on the tissues?
Thanks!
A triangle piercing is placed horizontally under the clitoral shaft. A hood piercing sits above it through the hood.
When you’re saying “deep hood” I’m presuming you mean a vertical hood piercing?
Everyone’s anatomy is going to be different. Many ladies simply don’t have the right anatomy for a triangle piercing, but do for a hood piercing, etc.
With a triangle piercing, it’s a likely possibility that you could have a hood piercing as well and wear them both.
As far as piercing technique, that’s going to depend greatly on your piercer and their personal preferance. As far as a mechanical vs freehand technique, neither is going to be “better” so long as your piercer knows what they’re doing.

Hello,
I recently had my labia minora professionally pierced and I plan on getting another one in the near future. However, I am concerned about the jewelry stretching my labia minora and making them longer because of the weight. It is pierced with a 14g circular barbell, though I am not sure what kind of metal it is (I am guessing steel). I am wondering if I should switch to titanium because it is lighter (assuming the metal is something other than that) once the piercing is healed to prevent stretching. Will wearing steel in the piercing make it more likely to stretch than if I were to wear titanium?
Thank you in advance!
The answer would be yes. Basically, the more weight you have there the more your labia will stretch. One or two 14g titanium rings probably won’t make that much of a difference but you will notice it if you decide to wear larger gauge jewellery in the future. It is also worth mentioning that catching smaller gauge rings is more likely to result in a tear.

i got my hood pierced and a week later it split in half. i need surgury to fix it but they cant guarantee how i will heal i could possibly lose all of my feeling. im not sure wat to do. can i sue?
People have sued for much less, sadly.
Can you describe how you feel the piercer is at fault?
And can you put me in touch with the physician who told you that you could lose all sensation due to a splitting (which is done in the body mod community and by some doctors to increase sensitivity) so I can ask them a few questions that, to be honest, may question their competency?

I’ve had my VCH pierced for going on 4 years this May. A couple days ago, my clit and hood area around the piercing became a little itchy, red and inflamed. It began producing a white gunk that doesn’t smell foul. Should I just begin sea salt soaks and let this clear up on its own? COuld it be irritation from the jewelry, as I”m still using the same piece of jewelry that it was pierced with 4 years ago? Is my problem as simple a solution of changing the barbell?
Thanks!
It could be that the jewelry you’re wearing is slowly corroding in your piercing and causing the irritation. There’s a good chance that the jewelry has something stuck to it and needs to be removed for a good cleaning and irrigation of the piercing itself.
I would switch the jewelry out to an implant grade material like ASTM F138 stainless steel or ASTM F136 Titanium if you’re not wearing it already.

Dear BME,
I’m planning on getting a VCH soon. But I think I also might get laser hair removal eventually. Will the piercing get in the way? Will I have to take it out for the procedure with the risk of it closing up?
The laser used in hair and vein removal cannot be used around tattoos or body jewelry as it will “jump” towards it, in my experience.
You’ll likely have to remove your VCH jewelry before the procedure. Some techs will allow the jewelry to be covered with a cloth instead, but be prepared to remove it. Consider a glass retainer during treatments so the piercing doesn’t close up.

I got a VCH two weeks ago, and everything’s been fine so far in terms of healing. However, in the past three days it has been falling out. Not completely, but the top bead (I have a curved barbell) has several times slipped through the hole and into the piercing itself. I can push it back up (which is uncomfortable bordering on painful), but eventually it slips back down. I’m thinking it may just be a jewelery issue, but I’m not sure what I would need to change. A longer barbell, one with a bigger bead, or is something else going on that I need to be concerned about?
You have a couple options:
A) Get a bigger ball to wear on the top of the barbell
B) Stretch the piercing up a bit and wear a thicker barbell
C) Change the material of the barbell. If you have a steel barbell, it may be just too heavy depending on the gauge. Look into wearing Titanium jewelry which is much less heavy.
Good luck!

I had my VCH piercing done about 4 days ago. I was expecting a little sore/tenderness in the area, and this hasn’t been troublesome - but I have noticed some bruising/discoloration 2 days ago, just on the area where the barbell sits underneath the skin- and haven’t read too many experiences regarding this. I’ve been following the aftercare diligently and don’t think it’s infected in any way.
So I was wondering if this is “normal” or is it a sign that I sould return to my piercer?
Also, generally how long will this (bruising) last?
Bruising is very common with new vertical hood piercings. Some people experience none, some a little bit of localized bruising, some can bruise really impressively.
Often with more extensive bruising there can be a bit more swelling and soreness around the area. Like any bruise, depending on the severity, it should go away in a week or so.

my piercer wants to do mine and my friends VCH’s with 14gauge 10mm diameter CBR’s. we’re both uncomfortable with this and no matter what i say she refused to even think of a curved barbell, and says we can change the jewellery after about 5 - 7 days.
is this OK or should i be finding someone else?
thank you.
I would personally look for someone else- you’ve told them what you want and it’s within reason; they’ve given you advice (changing it in a week) that I find to be questionable; they plan to pierce a hood at 14g…
All in all- and this is opinion- I say move along to someone else.

I’ve recently been in an accident where I had some neurological damage that’s being monitored by doctors. Through my Xrays and CT scans, it hasn’t been an issue having my 9 ear piercings, two navels, and my hood piercing. But for the MRI I’ve been cautioned that unless the metal I have in my piercings is for sure high-grade titanium, I could have some issues with getting an MRI. I’ve heard of the metal heating up or outright being pulled from my body because apparently MRI’s are big magnets? I don’t know. But anyway, taking my piercings out temporarily doesn’t bother me. I’m just having some difficulty with my hood piercing. I’ve had it for over 2 years now and I cannot get that sucker to budge. I’ve had a 16g gold barbell in there since I was first told I was able to change the jewelry. I’ve kept it clean and it’s been fantastic for me, but I’m kind of concerned about what would happen if I just left it in for the MRI? I fight with it for a couple of minutes everyday trying to get the balls loosened, but since it’s in such an awkward spot, I can’t really reach it with tools to stabilize the barbell and try to work at the ball a little better. And of course, my boyfriend is of no assistance. Sure, he loves the piercing, but ask him to help me get it out and he runs and hides and gets all grossed out, haha. Are there any tips and tricks that I could try at home by myself to get this bugger out or should I just suck it up and go see my piercer and throw them a nice tip to help me get it out? Ideally, I’d like to just get the jewelry loosened to where I could hop into the bathroom before my MRI and take it out and put it back in afterward. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Definitely have a piercer help you loosen the barbell balls. We’ve got all kinds of tools and tricks (and experience and skill and the right angles) to get even the toughest stuck barbell balls loose.
DO NOT wear that jewelry in an MRI.

I was thinking about getting a VCH and I was wondering if it might be right for me. I am a plus sized woman and want to know if my size would pose a problem. Also how do i know if my hood is the right size for a VCH? Thank you
Some questions are best answered by the person you plan to get pierced by.
There are a lot of plus sized women with hood piercings. Some no doubt have had issues, others love theirs and have no problems. Will it suit your particular anatomy? It’s impossible to say… so go in and get checked out. Good luck!
