ive always wondered if getting your cheeks pierced has the same effect without dimples as it does with, and if they are removed what kind of scarring remains?
Cheeks can be pierced with or without natural dimples.
Some people find that the scars that remain after removal of cheek piercings can leave very significant dimpling in the cheeks as well as a small hole where the jewelry was.

hey! so i just got my left nostril pierced about 5/6 days ago. my piercer told me to use regular dial soap and warm water to clean it.. its not really irritated or swollen anymore except when i clean it the screw gets pulled out a little sometimes.. NOW.. my nose is chapped. i used peroxide on it ONCE a few days ago but nothing happened until today. is it normal for it to be chapped?? if so, what can i do to stop the pain/ chapping..
sorry the pic looks bad but i think you can see it well enough
thnnx,
Arianna
No, it’s not really normal for your nose to be chapped, but it’s pretty common with new piercings.
After you initially are pierced, a small amount of swelling occurs. This stretches and stresses the skin in the area and when the swelling comes down, that skin flakes away for the new layer underneath.
With new piercings, we tend to be so caught up in keeping them isolated from the rest of our bodies and our daily regimes that we forget to keep up with basic hygeine and grooming around the piercing site.
The face sloughs off a lot of skin cells every day. Some people use exfoliants to help this process.
While your nose is swelly and then not, and while you’re using a seriously chemical and very drying agent like Dial soap (I’d stop that if I were you) and possibly not scrubbing away dead skin on that nostril to avoid irritating the piercing - you’re gonna notice some chappy skin.

Hi…recently i’ve found that there’s a raised tissue nearby the flat disc on my left labret. My piercer told me that it’s because of over accumulation of discharge & dead cells due to bed very late at night. I’ve been taking early bed for a week plus since the bump raised & gargle with warm sea salt water as usual but it seems like doesn’t reduce at all. I’m so worry about it & hope to have some advise on this problem. Thanks a lot & peace
Lip piercings can develop this kind of inflammation for a few different reasons.
Firstly, it could be that your piercing has been placed at a wonky angle and it’s irritating the piercing or that it’s being subject to trauma (chewing the jewelry, catching on teeth, oral contact with others…)
Secondly, it could be the quality of jewelry you’re wearing and your body is reacting to it - although by the picture, that doesn’t seem as likely.
My first guess is that it’s being irritated chemically somehow. Sea salt rinses are great to flush out oral piercings for aftercare. That being said, if you’re using a commercial mouthwash (Scope, Oral B, Listerine, etc) dumping booze or caffeine all into it or using a whitening toothpaste, that can seriously bother the inside of a fresh oral piercing

I recently got my septum re pierced because it was too low in my nose. When I got it re pierced it ended up being a lot higher (right below the cartilage in my nose). It’s been two weeks and I’ve been trying to take care of it as well as I can. I decided to try and put in a different ring just for a quick second to see what it would look like and when I tried putting in the captive ring that I have as well as my horseshoe ring (I was pierced with a retainer) they both hurt too much to put in as well as the captive ring just would fit in my nose. Is my piercing TOO high now compared to too low? Is it just way too soon to even try to put in a new ring? Am I stuck with wearing a retainer forever? I went to somewhere with a really high reputation for a piercing place (in western massachusetts) and had a very experienced piercer pierce me. Both times I was pierced with a 16g. I can provide a picture if none of this makes sense. help!
Unfortunately without seeing the piercing, it’s difficult to answer this question.
There’s always a possibility your piercing was done too high up, but there’s an even better possibility that you’ll just need to get a different diameter of jewelry to wear so that it fits.

I got my dimples pierced a while back and took them out. I wanted the dimples rather than the jewelry. So now I have a beautiful set of dimples, and I am curious to know if anyone has ever gotten DOUBLE dimples? Like two holes in each cheek. It would either be side by side or one above the other.
I am mainly looking for pictures of what it looks like, either with the jewelry in or with the dimples after the jewelry is out. I can’t find a picture anywhere, and being that piercings aren’t usually permanent, I don’t want to stick myself with some permanent ones that will look awful.
Thanks!
There are definitely people out there with multiple cheek piercings. You should check through the BME piercing galleries for some variations in placement and mutiples, etc.

I was considering getting a triangle piercing sometime in the near future, but have since discovered that there is a difference between a deep hood piercing and the triangle.
My piercer has determined that I am able to get a triangle piercing, but I didn’t ask about a deep hood because I wasn’t aware of a placement difference. Are people who are eligible for triangles usually also eligible for deep hood piercings? How are the types of stimulation they offer different, and which do you think would offer the most stimulation from behind the shaft as well as with potential for stimulation from the front (or would I be better off also getting a VCH?)?
In terms of piercing technique, is this better done with or without forceps, as long as the piercer can get a good grip on the tissues?
Thanks!
A triangle piercing is placed horizontally under the clitoral shaft. A hood piercing sits above it through the hood.
When you’re saying “deep hood” I’m presuming you mean a vertical hood piercing?
Everyone’s anatomy is going to be different. Many ladies simply don’t have the right anatomy for a triangle piercing, but do for a hood piercing, etc.
With a triangle piercing, it’s a likely possibility that you could have a hood piercing as well and wear them both.
As far as piercing technique, that’s going to depend greatly on your piercer and their personal preferance. As far as a mechanical vs freehand technique, neither is going to be “better” so long as your piercer knows what they’re doing.

I have had my right nipple pierced for 5 or 6 years now. A few months ago i noticed some weird discharge coming from the milk duct holes (i don’t know what to call them). Its color ranges from bright teal blue, to dark indigo. It only comes from ONE “hole” in the front. Not from the piercing hole. It does not react to peroxide (leading me to believe that its not bacterial or any kind of infection.), it doesn’t smell foul. It has the consistency of colostrum, a bit sticky, and only comes from when i squeeze my nipple, not the whole breast. It is a bit strange. I’ve spoken to both my doctor, and my piercer, both have no idea what it is, but don’t think that its anything to get worried over. They both just told me to keep it clean, which I do. What the hell is this? Anyone else heard of it? (Note: I am a former breastfeeding mother, I had the piercing before I nursed, and had it out during the duration of nursing. After nursing (1.5 years later) I replaced it, no worries, right back in the same hole. I haven’t nursed in 2 years. Just some more info :P) Thanks!
If neither your piercer nor your doctor have any clues after actually seeing this blue discharge, I would be just as clueless.
My only idea of what it could be is that you’re wearing a crap piece of jewelry made of cupreous metal, which isn’t unheard of! A lot of low grade “surgical steel” jewelry is made of tin, copper, lead, etc alloys that, especially when exposed to salt water as piercings often are, could corrode blue with oxodization.
…which is secreting out of your nipple. (neat! …but try changing your jewelry. Lead in your piercing is the opposite of a great idea)

Hey, I had my lip pierced (16 gague) in early July and as I’m looking at new jewellry to buy, I’ve noticed that most of what I want is in 14 gague. I keep reading references to stretching the piercing, but nothing that says anything specific on HOW. Is there a page I’m missing, or what?
This is my first ever piercing (other than my ears) so if I’m asking something completely stupid here, please let me know. =]
–Tori
The size difference between a 16g and a 14g is only about half a milimeter, but can be tough to stretch depending on the jewelry you’re using.
A piercer would be able to gently slide a long insertion taper which will very gradually spread the piercing open to slide in a 14g instead of forcing a blunt 14g post straight through.
It’s quite easy to stretch and probably won’t cause you much, if any, discomfort.

I got both of my nipples pierced August 27th, 2009. As of today, it is September 19th, 2009. So they have been pierced for about three weeks now. The healing has been going fairly well, although I feel that my left nipple is struggling along a bit more than my right nipple, and still has pain from time to time and seems to crust up and ooze a lot more than my right nipple does. I’ve noticed that it appears to be pierced a bit deeper than my right nipple, slightly out into the areola. I also have some concerns that perhaps the barbell is too short. Since I’ve had these concerns, I was thinking I should stop by my piercing shop where I had it done, and have them evaluate it. However, I also trust BME as a highly educated source of advice and information so I thought there was no harm asking here while I wait to visit my piercer.
I included a composite picture so that you could see what I’m dealing with. I’ve also drawn some arrows and dots to illustrate my concerns. The white dot represents where I feel the nipple actually ends on my left breast, and where… perhaps… the barbell should have emerged from. I am not a piercer, though, so I defer to whatever advice you may have to give.
Is this simply a matter of “leave it be?” Or a matter of getting a longer barbell? Or, is the advice to remove the left barbell and eventually redo the left piercing? As I said, it appears to be coming along… but it has good days and bad days, whereas the right nipple seems to have mostly good days.
If the advice is to insert a longer barbell, should I do that immediately, or wait a specified number of weeks?
As for my aftercare, I used antibacterial soap just the first week, and every week thereafter, I have been doing one 10 minute sea salt soak per day with inverted disposable cups at the rate of 1/4 tsp of sea salt per 8oz of water. After soaking, I rinse in the shower and gently clean any leftover crust with a new and clean q-tip. I try to avoid moving the barbells more than I have to, and I never spin them.
While I think the left piercing looks like it was pierced a wee bit deeper on the one side, I don’t think it’s that big a deal at this point.
I do think you could benefit from slightly longer barbells though.
I wouldn’t suggest antibacterial soap. Just give them a nice hot water rinse twice a day in the shower just before you get out. If you’d like to irrigate with saline that’s fine, but I wouldn’t apply it with Q-tips as they can leave little fibres behind.

I have three standard lobe piercings in each ear; two sets were gunned and one set was needles. They are the usual 20ga holes you wear regular “fashion” earrings in.
I want to get high-quality jewelry to wear in these holes full-time. I prefer stud-type, not hoops, and I would like it to be a good-quality metal. My absolute ideal would be 20ga titanium labret studs, but such a thing either doesn’t exist or is extremely hard to find. I have found 20ga CBRs, including titanium ones, but I just cannot find anything remotely stud-like.
Would any type of nose jewelry, which is often found in a small size like 20ga, be suitable for ear piercings? I prefer not to size up because I want to be able to wear “fashion” jewelry on special occasions. I’m actually thinking about nose bones - is there any possibility they could be worn securely in earlobes? What do you recommend?
There are several jewelry companies who make tiny-gauge implant grade jewelry for earlobes!
Check out Neometal!
You may also consider stretching your ears up to a 16g - which is still plenty small enough to wear costume jewelry in (many gold butterfly back studs are 16-14g)
at a 16g you’ll have all kinds of options for gemmed labret barbells, cbrs, circular barbells without stretching your ears up too much that costume jewelry would just hang out of.
